Politicizing Our Youth

Through this project, empowered youth by using their voice to advocate for policies that impact their lives and community. The youth we worked with come from communities that are often excluded in voting practices and therefore feel the impact of policy changes.

Program Background

Goal

The ultimate goal of our organization is to empower the voice of young Black and Brown youth to nurture the leaders within them.

Our focus population were youth ages 14-24 from communities of color, specifically those who have had contact with the criminal justice system, were re-entering, or are at risk of becoming justice involved.

We supported the development of youth leadership and provided opportunities to learn about legislative practices and the importance of Policy Advocacy and Positive Youth Justice.
