Transformational Mentoring
About The Project
The Transformational Mentoring Project, led in partnership with the Washington State Department of Children, Youth & Families (DCYF), is a statewide initiative designed to disrupt cycles of violence and incarceration through culturally rooted, community-based mentorship. Using the H2H Peer Credible Messenger model, the program trains and deploys trusted community leaders to provide intensive, healing-centered support to youth at risk of gang involvement. Across four regional implementation sites, the project delivers structured group sessions, individualized mentoring, life skills training, and family-focused services. Guided by principles of Healing-Centered Engagement; Culture, Agency, Relationships, Meaning, and Aspirations, the program not only supports young people, but also empowers communities by building a sustainable network of transformational mentors embedded where they are needed most.
