Resident Services
About The Program
Resident Services is rooted in years of work walking alongside young people and families impacted by systems, including those once held in state juvenile facilities. Drawing from that history, we’ve shaped a model that centers trusted relationships, cultural humility, and healing-centered accountability rather than punishment. Today, our team brings that same approach into housing communities and neighborhood spaces, meeting youth and families where they are, building safety and belonging, and connecting them to the resources and support they deserve.
Program Background
This program grew out of Northwest Credible Messenger’s early partnerships with Washington’s Department of Children, Youth, and Families, where credible messengers supported youth in secure facilities through mentorship, circles, and reentry planning. Over time, those experiences made it clear that healing-centered, peer-led support is most powerful when it follows young people beyond facility walls and back into community. As that chapter of work with DCYF has come to a close, the lessons, relationships, and practice we built together now live on in our resident services and community-based partnerships across King County, including our work in local housing communities.

Partnering for Impact: Northwest Credible Messenger x KCHA
This work now also includes a new partnership with King County Housing Authority, expanding resident services to youth living in targeted KCHA communities in Kent and Auburn. As part of KCHA’s Youth Safety & Belonging Initiative, Northwest Credible Messenger is providing place-based support for youth ages 14–19 through proactive outreach, rotating group sessions, voluntary one-on-one mentorship, and restorative supports that strengthen trust, belonging, and connection to caring adults.
